CAPRICORN-AQUARIUS CUSP

What are Cusps?

The lines separating the zodiac and houses in a birth chart are called Cusps. Each house consists of 30 degrees in which the planets travel or transit. The Cusps are simply the beginning of a house and the start of a sign, where one sign ends, and another begins. When the Sun moves from the 30th degree of one sign into the 1st degree of the next, it is the beginning of a new sign and the end of an old one.

A Cusp is not someone born on this boundary line, but rather someone who has one foot in two different signs.

Pop culture has sensationalized this phenomenon, claiming that people born on the Cusp are both signs, which is not entirely true. The moment the Sun (or any planet) shifts from the 30th degree of one sign into the 1st degree of another, it is officially a new sign. The Sun will express the qualities of the new sign more strongly than the sign it's leaving.

However, with most Astrologers, the cusps do have significance in your chart. First, let's go over the information about each Cusp and what it means:

CAPRICORN-AQUARIUS CUSP: 1/16 - 1/22

People born on this Cusp have a natural ability to synthesize the many different energies that exist between Capricorn and Aquarius. They are able to understand people from several different walks of life and will often succeed as writers or musicians due to their ability to communicate with many types of people.

While they may struggle with a desire for conformity at times, they can also understand the need for freedom and peace. They are incredibly generous with friends and family but will have difficulty committing long-term due to their free-spirited nature.

The inner conflict of this Cusp makes it difficult for them to focus on one type of career, but they can succeed in nearly any field.
